"Installs requiring action" in SAM software asset overview

Hi All,

Problem statement :  In software asset overview for Adobe systems (Captivate product) for 2019 version has 3  "installs requiring action" but has no entitlements attached to it. This is coming as a separate line item. This is the expected behaviour from ServiceNow. Either an entitlement should be attached to it or a saas subscription is needed.

Is there any documents supporting this problem statement or any reference links ?

I'm attaching the screenshots of the issue.
Thanks for taking time in reading this problem statement. Looking forward for a solution.

Thanks & Regards

We are seeing this same thing. If you found out any information could you share? or if anyone else has info that would be super helpful. FWIW it only shows when I view it from the Workspace. If you go directly to the table samp_software_model_result then it shows everything as "unlicensed installs" like it always has and used to in the workspace.

Just a heads up that in the next Washington DC patch version to be released and in Xanadu family release, this behavior will change. The unlicensed install count column will be split up as well (there will be a new column for actionable install count).

@Anirudh29 can u pls provide some details, is the reason coming as - Install with missing entitlement? Can you tell me if the install has an issue like missing assigned to, normalization etc.... it would be helpful if you can email me directly on this and we can have a short call pls

Hi Anirudh,

These progress indicators showing "unlicensed installs," "ignored installs," and "installs requiring action" are meant to explain why your installs did not get licensed. The "unlicensed installs" and "installs requiring action" indicators used to be combined, but we have split them to better explain how you can get your installs to be licensed. The "unlicensed installs" count shows installs that could be picked up by an entitlement, but there were insufficient rights. The "installs requiring action" section shows installs where you must do something other than buy more rights for an existing license than can cover the install (i.e. fix some data). Your screenshots seem to imply there's no per user/other metric entitlement that can cover these installs, or you have user subscription entitlements but no subscription for this user.

Does it seem like these actions are wrong/not applicable? What kind of solution are you looking for? Srinivas (previously replied), you, and I can discuss further.
