Relationship Between Contracts & Maintenance Entitlements?

Does anyone have experience utilizing both contract records and maintenance entitlements associated to their software entitlements?

We've found that it's easiest to track maintenance through contract records, since it can be attached to multiple entitlements and can easily be renewed during each period.

What benefits do individual maintenance entitlements offer? Do you use them in conjunction with a contract record, or do you create new maintenance records during each renewal?

Hi @SebastianBarnes,

I am with you and like the features that the contract module offers (e.g., notification, extension, linking with entitlements). Nevertheless, we create all maintenance entitlements as individual entities, as we receive the details from the publisher, LAR, etc. during renewal.

Since Tokyo/Utah we try to use the new features  and generate added value from them.

Create maintenance entitlements in workspace (servicenow.com)

  • Next Version field -> Update entitlements to the latest and supported version
  • Automatic split of the entitlements when less use rights are extended.
  • Transparency
