Good Day,
We are currently on the Utah release, but have been using this Replace/Insert Contract button since we were on Orland.
This process we were taught by a consulting group we hired.
When you need to renew a contract for a new term, go into existing contract, select the "Replace/Insert Contract" button then edit your date, the financials, and all relative fields, then you can use the "Submit For Reveiw" button to send for approval.
This was working fine until I noticed when creating a renewal software contract last week, it took the "Ends" date from the contract being replaced and created a new Contract Task before I could even update the new contract date and all other information prior to "Submit For Review".
I've been searching all over ServiceNow pages and the Internet to find any documentation about the proper usage of the "Replace/Insert Contract" button, but cannot find any information about that. The consulting group we initially used is no longer being used, so I'm thinking this may have been some customization as there seems to be no documentation of this anywhere.
Can someone confirm that this is most likely a customization and we need to go to our current consulting group to figure this out. -or- If this is not custom, can someone point me to any documentation on the proper procedure to use this method for renewing software contracts?
