SAM Pro - Why cannot I choose a version number when I am choosing Discovery Map?

I am creating a new software model for a software product called “SAP BusinessObjects”. I have been provided with a version number, lets call it 10.435.03.001. When creating the software model, if I choose “SAP BusinessObjects” in the Discovery Map, the version number is set to read only. When I set the Discovery Map field to blank, then I am able to add version number.

What am I missing here? Should I be educated on something? What is the best practice?

The chosen DMAP will be the Software Model's publisher, product, version and edition.

If you choose the DMAP

Software Title: SAP BusinessObjects

Publisher: SAP

Product: BusinessObjects

Version: Blank/Anything

Edition: Blank/Anything

You will generate a software model for

Software Model Display Name: SAP BusinessObjects

Publisher: SAP

Product: BusinessObjects

Version: Blank/Anything

Edition: Blank/Anything

If you choose a DMAP for

Software Title: SAP BusinessObjects 14.2

You will generate a Software Model for

Publisher: SAP

Product: BusinessObjects

Version: 14.2

Edition: Blank/Anything

In short, DMAP will override/overwrite the software model information.

@VQZN - Thanks for taking interest in my question.

I added a DMAP to a specific model days ago but I am not seeing the version getting populated until now. Is there something that’s not happening ? Like, for example , is a discovery or a normalization or a reconciliation job not running? What do I check and where?
