Hello team,
We just started with using the ACC agents for the ServiceNow Discovery. Its bringing all the good stuff related to OS details and running processes, software installations. What we are looking for is Database Instances.
Can we have the database instances discovered and relationships created using ACC? We dont have a choice of using Horizontal discovery for this.
Please suggest. @ashutoshmunot ITOM Success Packs
Thanks,
Rahuil

We are facing similar problem. Using ACC, we’re able to successfully discover the Windows Server, but the associated MSSQL database instances are not being created in the CMDB.
Could someone advise on what we might be missing or need to configure to get MSSQL instances discovered through ACC?
Also, we don't have access to KB article : https://support.servicenow.com/kb?id=kb_article_view&sysparm_article=KB1585764

Hi @Mohini Sharma
Pattern based discovery for MSSQL Databases with ACC, is a topic we have been struggling for now almost a year. Issue after issue, case after case. ACC + Pattern Discovery for MSSQL is a botched (in terms of lack of clarity in documentation, overheads and complexity in maintenance and more) implementation, from ServiceNow.
We still have several open cases(s) on the mentioned KB.
1. The KB was revised again in December 2025, no notifications sent to the subscribed customers.
2. New method of generating the check-allow-list was introduced with v1.5 of ACC-VC. Despite following the steps in the latest documentation and generating the file, natively from ServiceNow instance, the file misses 'required' elements for successful 'discovery' of MSSQL through ACC.
3. Then, we have JSON snippets and private 'update sets' being delivered by ServiceNow via Cases to fix their defects to generate the check-allow-list file. And, we are still waiting for clarification from ServiceNow on such update sets. We made tests on few servers which seem to discover the data, but we are still validating.
Disappointingly, it's still a work in progress!
Btw, attaching the KB (while it's still accessible for logged in users)
