ServiceNow SAM Pro – SaaS Discovery and SSO Integration

We have implemented the ServiceNow SAM tool and we can currently see only installed/on-prem software. We are not able to see SaaS applications, except for Microsoft and Adobe. While researching online, we came across something called SSO Integration and understood that it can help discover SaaS applications. Could someone please clarify: 1. Is SSO Integration already included as part of the ServiceNow SAM Pro package, or is it a separate add-on that needs to be purchased? 2. If it is included in SAM Pro, do we need to enable or configure it separately to start seeing SaaS application data? Any guidance on how to proceed would be greatly appreciated.

Hello @Divineee

To confirm if something is included; it is best to check with your account rep. Based on what I understand of your question, if you do have SAM Pro it should be included but I think you may be combining two things.

You can do an integration to your SSO setup to get software usage:

The Direct Integration is where you can use some of the predefined setups to access Salesforce, Smartsheet, Microsoft, etc. to get Saas data.

SSO data can be pulled from Entra and Okta. In Entra, this is a representation of all the registered applications. Alot depends on the housekeeping in Entra, because what I have found is that there could be thousands of SSO apps in the registry, lots of which are not used, so my recommendation would be look at Entra first and determine if there are any SSO apps that you are interested in tracking before the integration is switched on, otherwise you could end up with alot of meaningless data in SAM Pro - test it out in your DEV environment first.
