Software Asset Management Usage: Inactive Installs

Recently our team has implemented Software Asset Management Professional and the Software Usage import. We created a reclamation rule and added in any missing product processes that may have been missing. After our first import we noticed a huge gap of data between the number of installations and usage records on several products. If an application is installed(via SCCM package) and never launched, will the Software Usage import pick up these installs that have no "Last used time"?

SCCM SGC is being used for Discovery/Usage Import

An example is a PDF editing software with 600 installs and only 400 usage records. The team has the benefit of still having our old SAM tool that tracked usage. It's been confirmed that the missing 200 records are categorized as low usage in the other tool. We are seeing the same results on multiple products.

Has the team overlooked anything that could result in inactive install not populating on the Software Usage Table?

Hi Derek,

The integration returns only records for which there are actual usage records in SCCM. If there is no usage, there is no last used value, thus no record. To create Reclaimation Candidates for no usage, you would need a second rule based on Total Time Used. Set the number of hours in a given time period.
