Software Model Lifecycles generated

What triggers the value for Software Model.Lifecycles Generated to flip from FALSE to TRUE?

There is no discovery map for the particular SW Model I am looking at and no Publisher provided Lifecycle data either. I have manually created Lifecycle records on the SW Model based on research and run Reconciliation. However the Software Model.Lifecycles Generated flag remains FALSE. The field itself is not presented on the SW Model record form and is not editable from list view.

  • Your instance receives software model life-cycle information updates from the library. The following occurs to support this capability.
    • Life-cycle information in the library is propagated by the content service to your software models to create a baseline. Any life cycles created internally by your organization aren't affected.
    • If you’re managing software model life cycles internally and have deleted any life-cycle information provided by the content library, the deleted life-cycle records are recreated on the software model after you upgrade. Deactivate the life-cycle information if you don't need it. My understanding is that it should make this flag true or false. If you have any existing reports, the software life-cycle report prioritizes your internal life-cycle information over the library information so that your reports aren't impacted.
  • Your instance receives software model suite updates from the library. The following occurs to support this capability.
    • The content service propagates suite information in the library to your software models to create a baseline. The content library overrides suite changes that you've made. This update only occurs once.
    • You may want to customize your suite components. To provide this option, the software model suite definition has been enhanced with an Allow automated content update flag. By default, the flag is checked so that your suite definition is managed automatically by the content service. To manage the suite definition yourself, clear this flag.

What is Software library

  • Your instance receives software library content changes. The following product changes are made as part of these content changes.
    • Publisher name
    • Product name
    • Product type
    • Subscription
    • Main category
    • Product classification
    • Categories
    • Installations that should be ignored

After content updates are downloaded to your instance, a scheduled job automatically updates any affected software models, discovery models, software installs, and subscriptions

Thank you for the detaied response Vivekiesood

We are using the Content Service for Lifecycle data and Up/Downgrade rights. However there are SW Models where we ahve been told there will never be Lifecycle data added to the Content Service. In those cases we are looking at manually adding Lifecycle data since we run a report of SW Models lacking Lifecycle data to help us target what to submit to Content Service via HI for prioritization.

We could find no direct way to report on this so with some dot walking we leveraged the 'Lifecycles Gerenated' flag but now find that flag appears to be controlled or updated by Content Service and so I need to find a way to update that flag manually or find a completely different way to report on which SW Models are still lacking Lifecycle data despite proper Discovery Mapping.
