Software should not required a license as it's part of hardware purchase

Hi everyone,

I ran reconcil on a publisher and it's show "Install requiring action" with reason is missing relationship on-premise VMs and it's marked "Unlicensd install" is true.

But user report that this software should not required a license as it's part of hardware purchase.

Can you tell me what and where to check?

Hi @Ph_m B_u,

same as for the relationships, VM-Instances are auto-created.

Hi @Ph_m B_u,

to cover the initial part of  your question "software should not required a license as it's part of hardware purchase" - you've to create a software model for the software to be excluded and normalize all discovery models. The software model setting is then to set the value "License under management" to FALSE and all linked software installation records (based on the discovery models) will be excluded from the recon.

But, as long the SAMP engine detects issues like "missing relationship on-premise VMs" you've to solve them first to remove the "unlicensed install" record.

Hi Dreinhardt,

Thank you for your response.

Upon checking there are to ways to solve this.

First, maybe the machine is not a virtual machine, this lead to "Is Virtual" have to be uncheck.

Second, if the machine is a virtual machine, a relationship of this machine to a  virtual machine instance have to be create.

Regards.

Hi @Ph_m B_u,

correct and please do not create any relationship manually, the VM realtionships are provided by vCenter integration, Hyper-V discovery, etc.

Okay, I have one more question.

In case there are no VM instance for VM, will it be auto created by system or manually created?

Regards.
