We've just installed SAM onto a client instance and after running Discovery we've noticed the Software Installations table is correctly populated but the Software Subscriptions is empty.
Where is this data supposed to come from? I thought Discovery would create that but then I read this on the documentation (https://docs.servicenow.com/bundle/kingston-software-asset-management/page/product/software-asset-management2/task/add-software-subscription.html ) and noticed the sentence "When software subscriptions are imported" ; does that mean they have to be manually imported rather than automatically discovered?
Thanks for your help.

Hello,
Correct, when SAM Professional is enabled, Discovery will populate the Software Installations table. In Kingston, the Office 365 Integration was introduced to help customers manage their O365 subscriptions. This functionality allows customers to not only view Subscriptions Available and Subscriptions Assigned, but also reports if assigned subscriptions are actually in use or not (has the user used the SaaS application).
When the O365 Integration is configured, it will populate data into the Software Subscriptions table to support the functionality described above.
Here is a link to the integration setup information:
https://docs.servicenow.com/bundle/kingston-software-asset-management/page/product/software-asset-management2/task/set-up-microsoft-office-365.html
What was the use case you were trying to support by using the Software Subscription table?
Regards,
Julian

Thanks Julian, that's great. I wonder how I missed that actually.
Our client just wants to be able to see which and how many users are using what subscription basically.
This Office365 integration should sort that out in terms of the O365 subscriptions but do you know how to import other subscriptions in? Will it have to be a manual process via an import set as I can't see any other way to add to that table?
Thanks very much

Hi Rosario,
What other subscription information do you want to track in SAM Pro ? Are you looking to integrate with another vendor's licensing system or manually populate the samp_sw_subscription table ?
Please confirm.
Thanks, Mike.

Hi Mike,
I still don't have the specific requirements at the moment regarding what to track exactly. I can see out of box we're provided with O356 and IBM integrations to populate that table, I was just wondering if we want to add more subscriptions to that table (for example Oracle/VMWare/etc) what is the best way to do it, an integration with some existing tool or just manually updating it.
Thanks
Rosario
