I would like to inquire about the requirements for demonstrating my compliance status to VMware within the SAM Workspace. Specifically, is there a need for any integration or SaaS license to facilitate this process?
Additionally, regarding the new license agreement with Broadcom, could you please provide guidance on how to configure ServiceNow to locate the Aria Suite and vSphere/vCenter?
Thank you for your assistance.

Hello @williampete ,
Currently, there is limited direct integration available for SaaS products like VMware within the SAM Workspace, but you can always build a custom integration to demonstrate your compliance status. Regarding vSphere/vCenter, there is no out-of-the-box (OOB) integration provided in ServiceNow. However, if you are discovering any on-premise installations via Discovery, ensure that you map the discovered models to the correct software models to avoid showing them as unlicensed installations. This will help maintain an accurate compliance position.
Thanks

Hi @williampete,
the following steps are required to get a valid license position for your VMware products
vCenter/vSphere
- Enable ITOM Discovery VMware discovery VMware discovery (servicenow.com)
- Enable ITOM Discovery in general for Windows and Linux, to get all hardware details for your vSphere/vCenter devices
- Enable SAMP VMware publisher pack Software Asset Management publisher pack for VMware (servicenow.com)
Aria Suite
- Based on the documentation is a separate installation and not included as plugin in any other products
- Checklist for Installing VMware Aria Suite
- If so, the default ITOM Discovery scan for Windows/Linux including the software installation should detect the Aria installation and report as valid software installation.
Best, Dennis
