Hi SNC,
I've been looking for a while for the logic behind automatic software model creation, because sometimes SN creates software models with versions and sometimes a generic software model without details like version. In some cases it's creating both, see attachment: Attachment shows the Notepad++ product.
Why is SN creation a Software Model for Notepad++ with and without versions?
Hope to get a solid explanation of this behavior.
Thanks in advance.
Cheers,
Serkan

Hi @Serkan Yilmaz ,
By default Servicenow doesn't create software models, there will be a property which needs to be enabled to create software model automatically. In your case i think they have enabled the property that is the reason it is creating the software models.
Coming to next question, software models will be created based on discovery models. If a discovery model is normalized completely it will create the software model with versions, editions etc but if the discovery model is not normalized then it will create generic software models. One more reason might be because of child software models, in some cases like Office 365 F3/E3 editions comes as bundled packages which includes several other products like word, powerpoint, notepad etc so in this type of cases software models are created with generic versions.
Please vote this answer if it clears your query.
Thanks,

Hi @MercBuilding thanks for your explanation.
Your assumption about the properties is correct. We activated the auto creation of Software Models, so getting Software Models is expected behaviour. Only the logic about different levels was not clear, but your answer makes sense.
Have a nice day!
