Xanadu SamPro changes for EOL

Can anyone summarize the main differences/advangates for EOL tracking/reporting/management in the Xanadu release in SamPro?

Review and track the end of life (EOL) software products in your asset estate to reduce risks associated with software products that are reaching or have reached EOL.

The Lifecycle management dashboard displays reports on product life cycles, the current and past EOL product life cycles, and the upcoming EOL product life cycles for the next 18 months. You can also view EOL workflow status and workflow action.

I would summarise the changes to the addition of distinct columns for each lifecycle phase. The previous related table fields from the 'SW Install > Installs associated to Lifecycle ' have been deprecated. From a software install record you can now obtain all the lifecycle dates for a particular install by dot walking 'SW Install > Discovery Model > Lifecycle Report'

A new column, Lifecycle code, is added to the Software Product Lifecycle [sam_sw_product_lifecycle] table. The Lifecycle code column refers to the Software Lifecycle Code [software_lifecycle_code] table if approximate dates are assigned to a life cycle. The lifecycle code column is empty if the lifecycle has confirmed dates.

For better visibility of all the life cycle phases, the following columns have been added to the Software Lifecycle Reports [sam_sw_product_lifecycle_report'] table
  • General Availability start date
  • General Availability
  • End of Support start date
  • End of Support lifecycle
  • End of Extended Support start date
  • End of Extended Support lifecycle
  • End of Life start date
  • End of Life lifecycle
  • Software model
  • Owners
