Vulnerability Response - Remediation Task Rules issue

Hi

We have one Remediation Task rule which will create a Remediation Task for an assignment group as long as that assignment group is not empty on the VIT.

We have had some issues where the wrong team has been assigned so these VIT's have been manually unassigned. However when we go into ungrouped we are seeing a number of VIT's that shows that "In Remediation Task" is True" and we are also seeing a number that are false so they aren't in a Remediation Task but they do have an assignment group so they should be added to a Remediation Task or a new Remediation Task is created.

Do we need to force a Remediation Task rule re-run. We have nearly 5000 Remediation Tasks, so would rather avoid this if possible

Hey John,

what could cause this issue is, that only VITs that are in the "open" state will be re-evaluated by the remediation task rule.

So if the VITs, that were affected by the wrong assignment, are not in the open state, emptying the assignment group will not automatically move them to a new group.

I am not sure about the exact number of affected VITs, but maybe they could be manually put into their respective groups by using:

-Bulk edit functionality from the VIT list view

-Creating a new remediation task by using a filter

-Creating a new remediation task by using a filter group

-Creating a new remediation task by adding the VITs manually through the related list

In this case, re-running the remediation task rule could potentially be avoided.

When you use the Bulk Edit option to change VIT assignment groups, it creates a mismatch between the VUL assignment group and the related VITs that had the assignment group changed. What is the best solution to enable the VR Admins to address the mismatched assignment groups?
