I am trying to figure out how to configure Facilities Asset properly. Could someone provide examples of what they use for model categories?
As an example I am thinking...
Facilities Asset Portfolio
- Appliances, Equipment & Fixtures (AE&F)
- Architectural Systems (ARCH)
- Fire and Life Safety Systems (FLSS)
- Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC)
- Power and Electrical Systems (P&ES)
- Vehicle
...Or are these model categories?
Model Category Model Manufacturer Display Name
Air Conditioner ### Liebert Split System Liebert Split System Air Conditioner
Microwave Oven ### Panasonic Panasonic Microwave Oven

I would go with AE&F, ARCH, etc. as model categories rather than have too many model categories to manage in the other case.
Also keep in mind a model may fall under multiple model categories.
Are you also planning to use the CMDB to track these assets as CIs?

Under the Facilities Application we set up manufacturers and models. Then created these model categories for each class of assets.
- Appliances, Equipment & Fixtures (AE&F)
- Architectural Systems (ARCH)
- Fire and Life Safety Systems (FLSS)
- Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC)
- Power and Electrical Systems (P&ES)
- Vehicle
