Search for record (Magnifying glass) not showing on reference field in a sctask in the SOW

In the SOW, the "Search for records" magnifying glass icon is not showing for reference fields on catalog item tasks. They do show on the RITM, however.
How do I correct this, or is this a defect?
We are on the latest version of Yokohama and I built the catalog item using catalog builder.
As you can see in the attached screenshots, the reference fields for Cost Center (Department table) and Business Unit (BU table) show the magnifying glass "search" icon when looking at the RITM. Those fields are also shown on each sctask on the RITM, however the magnifying glass is missing. This will be very inconvenient for my customers who need to work the tasks.
NOTE these fields do NOT appear to the requester when completing the form on Emp Center
this is the first time I've noticed this behavior. Any help or guidance is appreciated.

I forgot to note: While I created the form using catalog builder, I needed to create a custom workflow to create the tasks.
