If you've got the customer_admin or partner_admin role you can now register your on-premise instance in the HI CMDB through a service catalog item. How much is everyone loving the convenience of the self-service portal's service catalog?

The Register On-Premise Instance option is for customers with existing on-prem instances (or locally hosted instances) that needs to be added to the CMDB in HI. Why might you need your CI in the CMDB? Because this is the the only way customer support can help investigate any issues you might be having with your instance!

This service catalog item behaves like most of our other catalog items by triggering a change request. Each request will go through an approval process with the appropriate Territory Manager. Should there be any follow up questions regarding the status of your request, you should reach out to the Territory Manager and/or your Support Account Manager. Their names would be listed in the comments field on your change request, as well as they will be added to the watch list on your change.

To add your on-prem instance to the CMDB in HI:

  1. Log in to HI at http://hi.service-now.com.
  2. Click Service Catalog.
  3. Click Register On-Premise Instance.

  4. In Company field, type the company name.
  5. In Used For, click the drop-down and select what is appropriate
  6. In the Stats Page, provide the following information.
The easiest method of obtaining this information is to copy/paste the instance stats.do (https://<instance-name>/stats.do).
    • Build date
    • Build tag
    • Instance name
    • Instance Id (instance IDs are unique and cannot be reused - if the instance ID provided is already registered in HI, then the system displays an error)
If any of the 4 items are not provided, you cannot submit the request.
  7. Click Submit.

This will add your on-premise (or locally hosted) instance to our CMDB in HI, and our support engineers can help troubleshoot goings-on in your instance. What other requests would everyone like to see as a catalog item?
