If you’re working with ServiceNow’s Now Assist platform, the Now Assist Readiness Evaluation is your first stop to gauge how prepared your instance is for Now Assist and agentic AI capabilities. Before you can see any assessment results, though, you’ll need to configure a few scheduled jobs and guided setup tasks.
Here’s how to get it all up and running, no fluff, just the steps that matter.
Setup:
Run the GenAI/AgenticAI Assessment Scheduled Job
This is the job that populates your Now Assist Readiness Evaluation Workspace with data.
Before you begin:

You’ll need the admin role.
- Confirm that the Now Assist Readiness Evaluation(
App ID: sn_assess) is installed💡 Search for the app after navigating to All > System Definition > Plugins.
Steps:

Go to All > System Definition > Scheduled Jobs.

Filter the list so that Application is Now Assist Readiness Evaluation.
💡 If you don’t see the Application column, use the “Update Personalized List” icon to add it.

Open the job named GenAI/Agentic AI Assessment.
Select Execute Now.
This runs the scheduled job and starts generating assessment results for both agentic AI and generative AI.
Need to rerun it later? Just repeat these steps. You can rerun all scheduled jobs as needed to reassess after adjustments in your instance have been made.
🔍 Troubleshooting assessments
- AI Search: Ensure the required plugin sn_aisearch_global (AI Search) is installed.
- Virtual Agent: Ensure the required plugin sn_catalog_con_cov, which is part of Now Assist for Platform, is installed.
- HRSD: Ensure the required plugin com.sn_hr_core is installed, and verify that the HRSD Case table (sn_hr_core_case) contains more than 0 records.
- CSM: Ensure the required plugin com.sn_customerservice is installed, and verify that the CSM Case table (sn_customerservice_case) contains more than 0 records.
- ITSM: Verify that the ITSM Incident table (incident) contains more than 0 records.
🧠 Optional: System Properties
Want more out of your NARE results? Flip one switch.
sn_assess.effort_visibility isn't enabled out of the box, so you'll want to activate it during your initial configuration. Head to the System Properties table, search for sn_assess.effort_visibility, set the value to true, and save. That's it.
Once it's on, here's what unlocks:
- Effort pills (Small / Medium / Large) appear next to flagged findings throughout the UI and in downloaded reports
- The Remediation Effort tab becomes visible, showing the number of hours each finding is multiplied by to estimate total effort
- The Legends button shows up to explain the icons and effort pills — handy when walking non-technical stakeholders through results
- Estimated effort is included in report exports
One heads-up: the Save button on the Remediation Properties tab inside NARE doesn't do anything yet — that's a planned feature, not a bug you need to chase down.
🧠 Optional: Configure HRSD Access
If you’re working with Now Assist for HR Service Delivery (HRSD), you’ll need to grant additional access.

Go to All > SystemApplication >Application Restricted Caller Access .

Filter the list so that Source Scope is Now Assist Readiness Evaluation.

Switch to the Human Resources: Core app scope.

Update the Status field from Requested to Allowed for each record.
💡 If you don’t see the Source Scope column, use the “Update Personalized List” icon to add it.

✅ Result: You’re AI-Ready
After completing these steps, your instance is fully configured for Now Assist Readiness Evaluation.
Head to Workspaces > Now Assist Readiness Evaluation to view your GenAI and Agentic AI assessment results.
