Custom Tables in Subscription Management
When you build on the ServiceNow platform, you may create your own tables to load data, store supporting data, or build and extend applications. Some of these count as custom tables under your contract and need to be mapped to a subscription. Here's how to tell which ones count and where to manage them.
THE SHORT VERSION
What you need to know
📋 Custom tables are governed by your contract and the Custom Table Guide.
🔍 Not every table you create counts as a custom table.
🔗 Custom tables need to be mapped to a subscription.
⚠️ Table names alone don't tell you whether a table is custom.
🖥 WHERE TO FIND IT
Custom and exempt table inventories
Custom Table Inventory
Lists the custom tables that need to be mapped to a subscription. Found on every instance in ua_custom_table_inventory.
Exempt Table Inventory
Lists customer-created tables that are exempt from mapping. Found in ua_exempted_table_inventory.
Who maps them, and where
Mapping is done on your production instance by someone with the admin or usage_admin role.
✅ EXEMPT TABLES
What's excluded from custom table counts
Extensions of exempted tables
Tables that extend a table on the Custom Table Guide's exemption list, such as import set rows or locations.
Platform-generated tables
Many-to-many relationship tables, archive tables, and rotated table shards.
Tables that don't store data on your instance
Remote tables, database views, and document tables.
ServiceNow apps, paid Store apps, and Integration apps
Tables that come with ServiceNow plugins and applications, paid partner apps, and free partner apps in the Integration category, when installed through the Store.
⚠️ These do count as custom
Tables in free partner apps outside the Integration category, and any tables in a ServiceNow or partner app that weren't installed through the Store.
This is a general reference. Your contract and the Custom Table Guide always take precedence.
