Cloning after upgrade is completed?

I cloned my instances (Prod to Dev, Prod to Test) as part of my pre-upgrade process.

 

Has or is anyone performing a clone to sub-prod instances after the upgrade is completed and validated?  If you are can you explain to me the benefits in doing so?

 

There are a couple of people that want it done in our instances, but I don't know what benefit they will get from this.

Hello,

In our Project there is a clone every 3 months to keep all the sub-prod instance inline with Prod.

 

Generally one of the main reason of doing a pre-upgrade clone on sub-prod instance is to verify that if any of the customization is having any effect on upgrade and we can cross check and fix it before the actual Prod instance. And the upgrade on Prod is as smooth as possible. 

 

To do a immediate clone after upgrade does not make serve any purpose I believe and neither any added advantage.
