CMDB data migration from remedy to Service now

I am working on BMC Remedy platform and have a plan to move to service now, can anyone suggest best practice of moving CMDB data from remedy to Snow or anyone has an experience of migration experience?

Thanks, do you have something specific for CMDB data to be migrated. mostly will be looking for migrating only CMDB data.

Hi Neha,

Nothing specific to migrate data from Remedy but I do have a couple of advices in general for CMDB migration.

a) backup your data. All the CMDB and their relationships

b) try out the complete migration process in a sub-production instance.

c) don't migrate garbage... because garbage in - garbage out . In other words, carefully analyze which records and which fields from your current cmdb you should migrate

d) perform the right analysis on how data needs to be mapped. It shouldn't be just a data dump. Doing so will create an important amount of headaches later on

e) if this is your first cmdb data migration... get professional help. (We have people available on our Volteo team that could help you out with this important task. )

Hi Neha,

You can use ITSM Bridge to do this - see itsmbridge.com.  It has pre-built migration mappings for Remedy CIs and relationhsips and creates all the Import Sets and Transform maps for you.  Has been successfully used to migrate Remedy CMDB to ServiceNow for a number of customers.
