Editable variables in a catalog task

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if there was a way to make variables in a catalog task editable from within the workflow catalog task itself.   Basically, we're migrating our IT communication process into Service Request, and what I'm trying to do is have the fields editable for the assigned to individual (or requestor) only upon rejection of the original form communication.   They would receive an editing catalog task for this.   We currently have it in place that all RITMs and catalog tasks are read-only so I need to counteract that.

I'm not sure if I can accomplish this through a script within the workflow or if I need to run a Client Script on the table (I'm trying to avoid this since it's only meant for one task in one catalog item).   Any help for what the best practice for this would be along with what you would use for code would be appreciated.   I'm only a system admin so the more complicated scripts are fairly foreign for me to create from scratch.

Thanks in advance!

Amandah,

There will be a client script/UI policy which will make the Variables read only. Modify that such that It will not run for specific Catalog Item/Task
