Event Log History

Does anyone know the retention history for System Policy --> Event Log?       I was trying to look back for failed login attempts, but it appears to only go back a week or so.

We have a requirement for storing system logs and events for 7 years.

Any idea how this can be done on servicenow instance so that it doesn't hit my performance.

Currently i am looking only for sys_logs and sys_events
