Thinking about creating a feature in KM for SN and would like feedback from the community.
I was thinking it would be helpful to be able to add personal notes in ServiceNow - not from one person to another, but like meeting notes or tips and tricks learned over time that aren't really of a "let's publish this to everyone" type of framework.
I envision that these notes would perpetually stay in Draft (so they wouldn't be published), but the minor versions would increment over time (we have adjusted our SN KM to increment minor version upon Save even if already in Draft).
They would be visible only to the author (and KM Admin and KB owner) and would be meant more as a centralized (for the person and community) notebook or scratchpad.
I could also set up some common note categories: Meeting Notes, Training, Tips and Tricks, etc.
I don't think the idea is fully fleshed out yet and I'm looking to get feedback/ideas for it - even if that's just to say, "That's not a good idea." (For those who don't think it's a good idea to put the notes in SN, where would you recommend these types of notes be stored and updated?)
Thanks all.

I looked through the Special Handling plugin notes. I'm not really envisioning this item as something which needs to be resolved by a particular time (and thus the note would expire) nor is what I'm envisioning customer-service focused. Thank you for the lead though!
Anyone else?

I'm curious to learn a little more. Are these like personal notes? How would these be searched by the user, in their regular task resolution flow?
In general personal notes, are contrary to the principles of Knowledge Management- i.e. Knowledge should not be hoarded, but shared.

I am a very strong advocate for knowledge sharing and not knowledge hoarding. However, if everyone can search everyone's personal notes, then those notes clutter up the knowledge base and valuable articles would be very difficult to find unless they were starred/highlighted. The type of notes I'm envisioning are intended to be used/re-used by the person himself/herself (though, an admin could still see them, if needed [i.e., no longer employed, deceased, etc.]).
Think meeting notes or personal reminders or a tip or two or notes on random topics over time... but not with enough content to turn into a valuable knowledge article; or, even just a personal scratchpad Wiki that makes it easy for the user to find their own concepts quickly through the ToC.
I know there is a blurry line here, as I am thinking about it, between what should be made public and what should be kept private for the user. In my mind, knowledge that should be public is knowledge that is formatted well, vetted, structured, thought put into its presentation and clarity, and is *intended* to be read by someone else; whereas, a personal note is none of that - it/they are just personal notes which make sense to the author.
So, yes, much more like personal notes, but still work-related and searchable (for that user) for the future (almost as if there is an implied user criteria record for that user only).
Thoughts?
