How do I clean up an update set?

I'm working with an update set for the first time and need to clean up unnecessary entries before pushing it from dev to test. I'm having trouble understand what to remove.

(1) Can I delete anything where the "Action" says "DELETE"? I have several things that I created, then deleted, and there's nothing that I'm trying to delete in the test/prod instances.

(2) I created a new, basic table with some options for a multi-select, and I've been told it's better to migrate it via xml. Does that mean I should move anything having to do with that table out of my update set?

(3) Is there anything else I should look out for? All of my other updates are catalog items and associated flows.

Thank you!

Hi,

You can delete update set entries by selecting them -> Action -> Delete

For more details refer below Blog for your reference :

Hi Jyoti,

Thank you for your response. I know how to delete/move entries, and I know that I need to clean up the set as described in the blog you linked, but I'm still not sure exactly what I should be deleting. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thank you!

From what I understand, it is best practice NOT to:

  • delete entries from the sys_update_xml table
  • Move sys_update_xml entries between update sets

With that being said, I will occasionally move entries between update sets when I know for sure they aren't needed however I never delete entries from sys_update_xml but instead move them to default.
