How does the expiry process for Knowledge articles work?

How does the expiry process for Knowledge articles work? As I understand it, the Valid to field is used to set whether an article is expired (once that date has passed), is this correct?

Is there a way to add a step for an approval or check of some sort, so that articles don't automatically expire and disappear from the Knowledge Base? My organisation's concern is that the article author/owner group are not proactive with actioning the upcoming expiry emails that come through, and any articles that aren't reviewed/have their Valid to date updated are being automatically expired.

I found this post about adding an expiry date field, would this be one way of getting around it?

Any other suggestions on how to manage/review our Knowledge articles prior to the automatic expiry?

Hi Eve,

Yes, the post you have mentioned is definitely a better way.

I have also gone through some KA expiration articles/post. Please find below posts too. Hope that will help you with your query.

Calculate valid to date

KA Expiration

You can take a reference from the codes given in the link and you can add some condition which will prevent your Articles from Expiring.

Please mark my answer as Correct/helpful, if that somehow helped you with your query.
