How to enable translated email layouts/templates to notification translations?

Hi!

I've been using static translation for the notifications and already done the following steps:

  • installed the Glide Notification Translation (com.glide.notification.translation) plugin
  • created "glide.email.outbound.static_translation.enabled" system property and set to "true
  • translated the "email layout", "email template" and "notification"

Currently, German language plugin is installed and the instance has the Tokyo release.

When the record is inserted, the notifications get triggered. Both users with different language preference receive the emails and the translation of the notification body is working as expected but when it comes to the email layout, something goes wrong. I share the screenshots of my translation configs and the sent emails below. Although everything looks okay, the layout/template translation functionality doesn't work.

Can someone help on that issue?

Thanks in advance.

It seems to me there is a mistake with the email LAYOUTS.

You screens show that the email layout in English has the message "this is an English text" and then your preview emails are showing "this is an english layout". Something is not matching right there....

In addition, what does the email layout in German says? I don't see a screenshot for that.

I did more testing on my OOB instance and I was able to reproduce your issue, even though the documentation says the layout field (not advanced layout) on the email layout is supported.

I put a simple call to the ${notification:body} and some text in different languages like you did but it is not bringing the information from the Spanish layout.

This may be a bug and I don't see any fix mention on Tokyo Patch 2 and 3.

If I were you I would open a case with SN about it.

Hi Sebastian,

I've reproduced that issue in multiple instances but was not sure if it is really a bug. It seems it should be fixed by SN. Thanks for your answer, I will raise a case.

I asked a SN person that works in notifications and got this reply that might help you: https://www.servicenow.com/community/now-platform-blog/translating-notifications-the-awesome-way-tok...
