How to restrict visibility of an icon link widget on portal

Hi,

I have a icon link created on portal home page upon click it takes to some external url, which i want to make visible only for particular users. I have a user criteria and i want to display only for those users. can anyone please help me how to do this

Hi Irfan,

In that case, try placing the icon link in a widget & then you can have a criteria used for hiding/displaying widget. As widget's visibility can be hadled by user criteria as well.

You mean a separate widget only for this ICON Link ? currently i am adding this to the service portal main page that is bottom on homepage search widget

Hi Irfan,

I doubt. But even creation of Widget is not that difficult as in your case it would just be the HTML part that will have to be used. No need of Server, client side scripts. Once created apply the User criteria.

As per your suggestion i have created a widget but in the widget i dont see an option to contol based on user criteria. I see only roles there can you please guide where i can find the user criteria ?

Hey Irfan,

Once you have created & saved the widget you should add Related List named Can View, Cannnot View & then add the Criteria over there.
