KB article: new journal field creates a knowledge feedback record

We've recently added a custom journal field (u_review_notes, Review Notes) on knowledge articles to allow the knowledge owner/manager to provide feedback to the author. When text is entered into this journal field and the article is saved, a Knowledge Feedback record is being created. This is, in turn, sending an email to the author and/or revised by as if the article has been commented on. And the review notes are displayed in the Comments section of the article when we are viewing it in the Service Portal.

How can we prevent creation of that knowledge feedback record when the Review Notes is saved for the article?

I finally figured out the right search terms to find this article on the Now Support site.

Summary:  This is by design. The workaround consists in not propagating the comments from live feed to Legacy Feedback table, and disabling the live feed commenting system on the article view page. The workaround steps are listed in the article.
