KB Article Templates not populating HTML Preview Text in New Article

I have a couple of questions that I'd like clarification on and/or answered.

1.  If i understand correctly, the KB Article Templates will created "Custom" Fields that need to be added to the OOB KB Article form.  Is that correct?  I think the understanding is this is OOB feature to allow users to provide Custom KB Articles based on Needs/Wants/Etc...

2.  I've created Article Templates using HTML fields.  However the values in the Preview Text is not copying to the new article.  Is there a reason or System Property that is causing this to fail?

Hi,

To Number 1: KB Article Template

  • It creates a new Knowledge Management table: kb_template_?????? (your article template name)
  • This kb_template_?????? table extends the basic kb_knowledge table

  • Within that table, it has capability to extends by creating more Article Template Fields based on your needs.

to Number 2: Preview Text of the Article Template Field
as far as I understood, the Preview Text is only for displaying a preview text when you select the template.

When you want to enter something in certain field, please use the Template functionality.

In your case then create a template for the new KB article table.

Yet on this situation, the user still need to click and select the template to get the fields populated.

I still cannot find way to auto fill when the user creates a new KB article.

Was a real solution ever found here? This is insane it is designed so poorly, why arent the tables just populating in the new form field we made
