Hi All,
I want to understand if I have created any custom table in a scoped application and want to display the data of that table( in read only mode) on portal in some custom widget to thousands of our end users, would it be considered as the consumption of app engine license for all the end users?
Also, curious to know if end user creates any record in this table via a record producer, would that be considered as consumption of app engine license?
Not able to find detailed explanation of this anywhere, so broadcasting here to see your understanding and information on this licensing question.
Thanks in Advance,
Inderpal Singh

Hi Inderpal,
Any licencing questions should be directly directly at your account executive. They'll be able to confirm exactly which licence you've purcahsed, and what it can/can't be used for.

Hi
this Community is not the right place for answering licensing questions, as you have to discuss this individually with ServiceNow.
Just one hint: You won't get a productive ServiceNow instance for free. That means you have to decide for any of the main products (ITSM, CSM, FSM, a.s.o). In these packages there are always a number of free custom tables included. If you don't use the traditionally packages as you just want to build a custom app, you have to buy the App Engine package. In any case you can build custom apps with custom tables but never you will get them for free.
I hope this helps, and again: reach out to your ServiceNow Sales Rep for further discussions.
Kind regards
Maik

Like others have said you should check with your ServiceNow account executive or even just read through the contract. App engine licensing has changed a couple of times in the last few years, so it's possible for customers to be on different versions of this licensing which would mean different answers to your question depending on the specific licensing you're on.

Hi IP,
To complement the previous replies to your question I suggest reviewing the Custom Table Guide for the treatment of custom tables themselves. This is a useful reference to factor in when making these kind of implementation decisions as it relates to applying customizations or configuration changes to an existing app or when creating a net new custom app.
