Templates not appearing in toggle bar

Hi ServiceNow Community,

When I go to create a new Knowledge article, my templates aren't appearing in the toggle bar even though there are multiple:

find_real_file.png

The templates only appear once I create a new template:

find_real_file.png

It does show when you right-click on the header > Templates > Apply Template:

find_real_file.png

However the end users want to be able to see it on the template toggle bar.

I tried to see whether this was happening only for Knowledge, but it's also happening in other applications such as Demand. Has anybody else ever had this problem? Does anybody have an idea on how to fix this?

Any help is appreciated!

Have you looked at skipped updates from your upgrade? I had something similar happening with a skipped update for the template_context UI Macro. You can check by navigating to System Diagnostics > Upgrade History and clicking on the most recent system upgrade with lots of updates. From there you can see the list of skipped updates (the name should start with glide). Try searching in the Target name column to see if anything was skipped pertaining to templates. If so, try resolving the conflicts and accepting the remote update.

That skipped update for the template_context UI macro on an upgrade from Eureka to Helsinki is what was keeping the Template entries in the context menu for me, like you showed in the screenshot.

It might even be a skipped update from a previous upgrade.

I hope that helps you find a resolution.

This worked perfectly. Thanks for saving me a bunch of time.

Awesome! I love it when I can help out.

This was also the solution to my issue!

I'm glad it helped you!
