transferred sysevent records

What is the sysevent state progression? Our sysevent record list grew recently and we have hundreds of records in the queued and transferred states. This morning, we had thousands so the system is recovering. I read the https://community.servicenow.com/community?id=community_blog&sys_id=f0dc6665dbd0dbc01dcaf3231f961955 article but we don't seem to have hung events. We just have too many and most are index updates for the description field of the sys_user_group table based on a new group import.

What is the meaning of the "transferred" state? Can we reset to error?

We have > 1,300 sysevent records in the transferred state and most were from yesterday. Will transferred sysevent records be processed? Have they been processed?
