Hi,

An update set is a group of configuration that can be moved from one instance to another instance.

By using the update sources, we can able to fetch the update set in our instance directly by specifying the URL of servicenow target instance and credentials of that URL in Update Source.

Once Update Source Is configured , we can check the moved updated set in other instance Directly. For example : I have configured update source in Test instance. I have completed my enhancement or any changes which is captured in updated set in development environment and once I close the updated set I  can retrieve the closed update set  from  dev In Test environment . Hope this example is helpful to understand.
