what is the difference between scoped application and global application?

HI Guys ,
I am completely newly to Servicenow.
and my query is what is the difference between scoped application and global application?
and from docs i got to know, there is a restricted access to Scoped application.
and also few methods will be different to Scoped application.
Pls any one help me in this for better findings.

Scoped apps are sandboxed from the system at large and utilize a restricted API to minimize/prevent damage to anything outside of their 'scope' aka sandbox.
Global apps are everything else, it's the default scope and has access to all parts of the system and therefore can cause damage/impact beyond their intent.
