Hi,
You can enter up to 80 characters for the label, but not all databases support this many characters. The recommended maximum is 30 or fewer characters. HTML in field labels is not supported.
Hope the following link will help you
https://docs.servicenow.com/bundle/london-platform-administration/page/administer/reference-pages/task/t_ChangeFieldLabelOrHint.html
Mark it as correct/helpful,if it helps.
Regards,
Ragini

This is not what I'm looking for. I want to know the maximum characters for Hint. Docs doesn't specify the width.
Also, I am using Kingston and need to do this for the service portal. In the platform itself I see that it is 45 characters wide and if I do a carriage return it will insert another row for the help. But that is not where my form is being consumed; my ESS users will be accessing it through the service portal.
