What's the difference about support language between Platform and NLU model?

Nice to meet you.

When I investigated the ServiceNow's support language,
I found out that the kind of support language is different from NowPlatform and NLU model.

ServiceNow Platform support 23 languages include English.
And NLU model support 19 languages at Tokyo version.

First I thought NLU model's support languages are subset of NowPlatform support langages. But It is not.

For example, the Danish language is available at NLU model, but NowPlatform dose not support.

Why NLU model's support languages and ServiceNow Platform are different?

Thank you in advance.

Best regards,

Jiyoung

Hi Jiyoung,

the NLU (Natural Language Understanding) and the land pack are different things at first. The Lang packs are the well know (for years by now) way to easily translate text, labels, etc to another language with some predefined translations before hand.

Now, NLU is different thing - NLU is tring to understand what the user is trying to search for and tryes to determine what he/she meant. There a lots of tech terms here( intent, utterance, entoty, models, ect) in which i wont be going in any details, but to put it this way - NLU is backed up by AI/ML and is constantly trying to evolve and understand the user , while standard lang packs are not having this at all.

And as SNW is investing in NLU - you have more translations there 🙂

Hope this helps!

Cheers,

Joro
