The October 2026 release brings tasks and approvals into the conversation, gives admins more control over how employees browse topics, and makes it easier to match EmployeeWorks Web App to your brand.

Here's what's new.

What's launching in October 2026

  • Conversational Tasks and Approvals within EmployeeWorks
  • Browse Enhancements
  • Branding and Theming Enhancement: Corner Radius
  • Employee Journeys in EmployeeWorks
  • Other Updates Across ServiceNow EmployeeWorks and Moveworks

  1. Conversational Tasks and Approvals within EmployeeWorks

Checking what needs your attention now takes one question. Employees ask the EmployeeWorks Web App assistant for their tasks and approvals and get the same list they see on their Tasks and Requests page, including tasks delegated to them and custom task types defined by their organization.

  • Ask in plain language: Ask "Show me my tasks" or "What are my approvals?" to see open items assigned to you.
  • Narrow the list with filters: Ask for overdue tasks, approvals, or due soon tasks, and the assistant applies the matching filter. Synonyms such as "late tasks" also work.
  • Act in split view: Select an item to open it in split view, then complete any action available on that task.

How filter matching works

Filters are conditions your organization sets up for tasks, such as overdue, due soon, approvals, or priority. Employees don't need to know the exact filter name. The assistant matches their request to the filters that are set up.

  • Exact match: The request uses the filter's name. "Show me overdue tasks" applies the Overdue filter.
  • Synonym match: The request uses a different word with the same meaning. "Show me late tasks" also applies the Overdue filter, and "Show me tasks due this week" applies the Due Soon filter.
  • No match: The request asks for a filter your organization hasn't set up. For example, if no Blocked filter exists, "Show me blocked tasks" doesn't return results from a similar filter. Instead, the assistant explains that the filter isn't available and lists the filters employees can use.
  • More than one possible match: If a request could mean two different filters, the assistant names both and asks the employee to choose before it returns a list.

Combining filters

  • Filters within the same category: "Show me critical or high-priority tasks" returns tasks that match either priority.
  • Filters across different categories: "Show me high-priority approvals" returns approvals that are also high priority.

Combining filters from different categories with "or," such as "high-priority or overdue tasks," isn't supported yet. In that case, the assistant asks the employee to pick one.

Employees get a focused view of the work that needs them and can act on it without leaving the conversation.

  1. Browse Enhancements: More Control and a Cleaner Explore Experience

This release gives admins more control over when Explore appears and refines how employees browse topics on desktop and mobile.

Admin control over Explore

  • Explore menu item: Explore now ships as a navigation menu item that is inactive by default, so it doesn't appear until an admin turns it on. To activate it:
    • Navigate to All > AI Experience Framework > Menus.
    • Open Employee Menu.
    • In the AIX Menu Items related list, open the Explore menu item.
    • Set the menu item to active. Optionally, update the Order field to choose where Explore appears in the navigation.

  • Clear empty states: If no taxonomy is mapped to an experience, employees who open Explore see a clear empty state message instead of a blank page. Empty state and error messages have also been updated across topic pages.

A refreshed Explore page

  • New layout: Root topics now appear in a three-column layout with a banner, subtopic pills, and an overflow pill when a topic has more subtopics than fit on the card.
  • Show more: The Explore page shows 12 root topics by default. If more are configured, employees select Show more to see the rest.

Easier filtering on topic pages

  • Filter pills: When employees filter Support Resources by type, such as articles, a filter pill shows which filter is active, even after the page reloads. Select the close icon on the pill to clear the filter and see all resources for the topic.
  • Support Resources design: Resource icons are now center-aligned for a cleaner, more consistent look.

Built for mobile

  • Compact topic pages: On mobile, breadcrumbs are hidden, and subtopic pills scroll horizontally under the topic banner so employees reach content faster.
  • Faster Explore page: On mobile, the Explore page shows only root topics and hides subtopic pills, which helps the page load faster. Subtopic pills return on desktop.

Admins decide when Explore goes live, and employees get a cleaner way to browse topics on any device.

Refer to Browse and Topic Pages product documentation for additional details.

  1. Branding and Theming Enhancement: Corner Radius

Matching EmployeeWorks to your brand used to mean editing CSS widget by widget to change how rounded the cards, buttons, and fields looked. With this release, admins can control corner radius across the experience from a single setting in the Admin Console.

The new Corner Radius section, under Branding and Theming, groups visual elements into three categories:

  • Boxes: Cards and modals.
  • Fields: Buttons, inputs, tabs, and alerts.
  • Selectors: Checkboxes and toggles.

Each category ships with a default value, so the experience looks consistent out of the box. When admins update a category, the change applies across the home page, Org Chart, Tasks and Requests, Communications, and other pages.

Admins can also set corner radius for each additional theme. A new theme starts with the values from the main Branding and Theming page, and admins can adjust them to fit each audience without affecting the main theme.

Corner radius controls for the Omnibar are planned for a future release.

Admins can align the shape of EmployeeWorks with their brand in minutes, without touching code.

  1. Employee Journeys in EmployeeWorks

Employees and managers can now follow their journeys and lifecycle events directly in EmployeeWorks, in one common experience. A new home page widget, a journey list page, and a journey details page show progress, overdue tasks, and the next task to act on, while a Team tab gives managers a view of overall journey progress for the people they support. Employee Journeys requires the Employee Journeys for EmployeeWorks and Employee Slate plugin and is available for HRSD Advanced and Prime customers.
