IT Business Management adds more capabilities to align investments to business value
Enterprise leaders today grapple with misalignment between business objectives and technology projects which results in poor value realized by the business. Do you know why? We find three areas of difficulty:
- It’s hard for executives to have clear visibility into strategic investments and communicate that across the company.
- There is the lack of common planning as organizations use different types of work. Organizations are embracing a hybrid approach to project management to accelerate their performance using both agile and traditional work. However, these different methods cause confusion and misalignment.
- Teams that are executing and delivering their projects, products, and initiatives, have a hard time connecting the business outcome to their original strategy.
All of these challenges create a gap between strategy and value delivered. Let’s look at top 4 enhancements for Rome to help close this gap and align customer’s strategy to business value:
- Alignment Planner Workspace – Direct Investments and teams to strategy
Executives, portfolio managers and other stake holders struggle with outcome-driven planning as they may lack the means to plan and manage products effectively. They need to create high-level plans and sequence work on a timeline across the portfolio with complete visibility and access to data.
Less than 6 months ago we debuted our Roadmap Planning part of the Alignment Planner workspace with our Quebec release. The Alignment Planner Workspace provides intuitive roadmap planning—giving you the ability to drive meaningful conversations and adjust work items and plans on the fly.
We invested heavily in enhancing the Roadmap Planning experience as we got more feedback from our customers. We know that a lot of organizations are on their agile transformation journey and are using hybrid project management. In the Rome release we are enabling stakeholders to plan both agile and traditional work from a single roadmap- to have one view of all work regardless of methodology to better support hybrid project management.
Another great addition to the Alignment Planner workspace is the new Flexible Planning Hierarchies that enable customers to connect work to strategy. This capability helps planning cascade from the top down. As a result, roadmaps are connected and every work in every level of the company is connected to the top strategy.
We have also added advanced capabilities to track real time progress of product development with Milestones and Tracking. Utilizing this capability, you can communicate regular status updates to stakeholders and review progress and track changes to roadmaps caused by any adjustments in business strategy.
For more detailed information take a look at the Alignment Planner Workspace data sheet and the Roadmap Planning blog. We’ve also created a demo for the Alignment Planner workspace.
2.Non-Monetary Benefits - Capture hard and soft benefits to effectively understand outcomes
Projects have inherent value, and benefits realization is about defining, planning, structuring, and capturing both tangible and intangible benefits following the completion of the work.
The new enhancements to Benefit Realization include non-financial benefits such as Customer Satisfaction score, Employee Viewpoint survey results, and brand awareness, which enables customers to have a complete view of benefit realization.
3.Resource Management - Easier planning for available resources to deliver work fast
Resource managers used to have two different user interfaces for operational and non-operational work. With the new enhancements to Resource Management, resource managers now have a consolidated view of staff capacities, allocation, and availability for all task-based and operational work to allocate and optimize resources as priorities shift.
If you are interested to know more about Resource Management please check out this data sheet.
4.Universal Request to Ideation- Improve employee satisfaction
Users need an easyier and more efficient way to submit requests and ideas without worrying about specifically what type of record it is, how it will be routed or to whom it will be assigned.
Universal Request to Ideation enhances the user’s experience as they can easily submit new ideas. Also, agents can convert the universal request to an idea that could later turn into projects or products more efficiently.
Close the gap between business strategy and value delivered
We hope you are excited as we are about the new ITBM features in our Rome release.
As mentioned, some of the highlights are the Alignment Planner Workspace connects enterprise to strategy and supports hybrid project management, Resource Management enables easier planning for available resources, Non-Monitory Benefits capture hard and soft benefits and Universal Request to Ideation provides greater efficiency.
These Rome capabilities are all helping you to better plan, align, and execute work to close the gap between business strategy and value delivered. For a complete list of all new capabilities in the Rome release please check out the product document site.
