Hi Everyone,
Kindly advise if there is reference material (or your best practices) to show any of the following?

1) Differentiation of work between Admin versus PPS_Admin when implementing or configuring Project Portfolio  Management?    ie. Who does what?

2) Downloadable list of  steps to implement / configure PPM?

Thanks

Hi @wlam ,

Hope you are doing well.

Answers below:

1) Differentiation of work between Admin versus PPS_Admin when implementing or configuring Project Portfolio  Management?    ie. Who does what?

Instead of pps_admin, it is advised to use the it_pps_admin role.

it_pps_admin admin
This role is provided to the resource who is responsible to adminster SPM. This role is provided to the resource for system administration and not just the SPM application.

This role is to allow users to view or modify SPM related entities such as:

  • Ideas
  • Projects
  • Demands
  • Programs
  • Portfolios
  • Timeline \ Timecards
  • SPM preferences/configs/settings

This role has access to all system features, functions, and data, regardless of security constraints.

If you have sensitive information, such as HR records, that you need to protect, you must create a custom '''admin '''role for that area and train a person authorized to see those records to act as an administrator.

This role can be considered as less powerful in comparison to the system administrator (admin) role.  More powerful as compared to it_pps_admin role.' Important Advice - "Grant this privilege carefully"

To answer your second point - you can access below links provided by community users to access this information.

Hope this helps. If it does, please mark this as helpful / correct answer.

Thank You!

Thank you Namita!    That answers the 2nd part of my question with th PPM Implementation Plan!

As for the first part, I read  that IT_PPS_ADMIN does not come by default with USER_ADMIN functions for configuring roles/groups.  So, I'm wondering if it is possible to create a special "PPS" user_admin that enables the IT_PPS_ADMIN to update roles/groups?

Hi @wlam ,

I would suggest to identify the user(s) responsible for SPM administration & assign them it_pps_admin role.

I believe the user with admin role can also configure role \ groups because admin has access to user administration.
