Dear community,
Following recent upgrades, I’ve noticed that the option to allocate a demand’s budget by year is no longer available on the Demand record. This functionality still exists once the demand is converted into a project (in the project workspace), but in our use case, we need to allocate the budget per year at the demand stage.
The Cost Plans tab doesn’t meet our needs, as we are simply looking to allocate the capital budget by year—representing the planned annual execution—at the time the demand is approved and before it's converted into a project.
What came to my attention is that we still have in the Demand record, under the financials tab, a field called Capital Budget (Out of the box field). But don't know how this field is used from the Demand record.
Has anyone encountered a similar need or found a solution for enabling this type of annual budget allocation directly on the Demand record?
Thanks in advance for any insights!

Hello @ashisharovi ,
Thanks for raising the query.
As a portfolio manager you can allocate the budget from project workspace -> Financials.
Ensure the following pre-requisites are met:
1.
System property "sn_invst_pln.enable_budget_allocation_v2" is set to true
As an admin, type "sys_properties.LIST" in the navigation panel
Select the above property and set it as true
2.
System property " sn_invst_pln.budget_allocation_attribute" is set to either cost_type or expense_type
As an admin, type "sys_properties.LIST" in the navigation panel
Select the above property and set the value as one of the above values.
When to use what?
Set it as cost_type IF you want to view financials by cost types such as Hardware Opex, External labor Capex, Software Capex, Software Opex, and so on
Set it as "expense_type" IF you want to view financials by expense types such as Capex and Opex.
3. Logged in user to manage the project budget from project workspace -> Financials should have the it_portfolio_manager role
Now the user can toggle the the Budget allocation from the project workspace -> Financials to manage the project budget from the project workspace.
IMHO, the portfolio manager need to compare different projects \ demands before allocating the budget hence I feel that portfolio planning \ strategic planning workspace is suitable for budget allocation.
Hope this helps and if it does kindly mark this as correct response to help me and the community!!
HAPPY SPM LEARNING!!
Thank You!
