Hello,

I am new to Servicenow and I would like to know how to configure an email notification in a servicecatalog workflow.  The notification will go to non itil user's manager for approval.  If the manager replies approve , I want a task to be created , if Not approved, I would like fo for the Request to be cancelled sending notification to the requested for of the rejected status.

Hi Rhonda,

Out of the box once you add user using approval activity an approval email is triggered to that user.

Remember there is licensing cost for approval users:

If you are implementing approval using emails then I believe it don't require any additional license cost. But if your are providing the user with approver_user role then it requires a license as this role allows a user to use the approval UI directly for processing approvals.

There are many recent changes ServiceNow is doing which not many people are aware of unless the ServiceNow Account manager helps in this.

Every implementation I've done in the past few years we have been told by ServiceNow that approval via email requires a license.

@Rhonda Sorry I am 99% sure this is not correct.
"If you are implementing approval using emails then I believe it don't require any additional license"

I have been told by ServiceNow that it does.

Always talk to your account manager first but I do not believe this is correct.
