I am interested in ideas as to which module(s) to use for capacity planning/forecasting of infrastructure resources, like physical hosting, storage, server, backup, network capacity requirements for projects and BAU?

I found another post from about a year back where this advice was given:
Our infrastructure planning is mostly integrated with our project planning processes. I have included some high-level thoughts below on what works well for us but the client's size will probably dictate the best solution.
-We have every infrastructure team engaged for each project request to assess LOE and infrastructure resources required.
-We approve projects annually and quarterly to allow for sufficient time to plan and continue to work on existing systems
-We plan for infrastructure sizing and costs in a 5-year model for each new item brought into our system
-Upon project completion we have a hand-off to support to ensure the operational/KTLO teams are equipped to support
-Every year, each infrastructure team does an assessment within a standard PRJ to capture the refresh needs of aging systems
-We do not allow for servers or any infrastructure items with a cost to be added to the system without a formal PRJ# and governance review
I will note we still do not have a perfect process but happy to try to answer any specific questions they may have.

Sorry for misunderstanding your question! I'm glad Emily was able to help. If you want to see how some other customers draw lines on intake of requests, here's a presentation of 3 different examples: https://community.servicenow.com/message/812296#812296. I think Emily's feedback is more directly related to your specific question but seeing other paths & criteria may help.
