Project Template use

Our process for creating new PRJ projects in SN is to start from a Demand, then have a PRJ created from the DMND and fields carried over from the DMND and the PRJ and DMND reference eachother. I was asked to look into the Project Template functionality. We are currently using the 'Copy Partial Project' functionality if we have a project schedule we want to use as a template. But to do this, we have to create a dummy PRJ just to have the schedule to copy to real projects, and this is messy having dummy PRJ's out there.

Should we just create a template for each template project schedules we want, then use the 'copy partial project' functionality from that template, so we don't have these dummy PRJ's?

Is it technically feasible to apply a template to an existing PRJ just to have the project tasks copy into that project?

Got it. That however creates bad PRJ project records, doesn't it? We're trying to avoid having non-legit PRJ records out there.

Another question - can you import tasks into a template?

I don't believe there is an easy way, but you can probably do some kind of data import. The template data is in the pm_project_template and pm_project_template_task tables, if you are going to go that route.

Hi,

Hope someone can help with getting requirements on a project template.   I've created the Template Config according to the documentation, but I haven't been able to create a template that creates anything but the default Project Tasks and Attachments.   Any tips on getting Requirements to display?   I figured I needed to configure the related list, but that option only shows Tasks and Attachments as Selected . . . nothing available.
