Bulk Retire older version KB articles

Hi All,

In my instance I have multiple duplicate KB articles with same number. This happened because the current version was checked out and then published and hence two copies were created with same number.

Now I have to:

1. Identify all duplicate knowledge articles

2. Change status to 'retire' of the older versions.

Please help on this.

This is OOB behaviour, when the new version of an article is published, all the older versions are set to state=outdated.

These articles have same number when you search them in list view and are only visible to admins.

If you open any such articles OOB at top there is a message that a newer version of this article exists.

There is no need to change the status to retired, as it will conflict with the OOB behaviour.

Hi @RaghavSh,

The searches are appearing in Related search of incident screenshot attached. Do I need to delete/retire the earlier version to get rid of this. As checking out and then after editing the new version gets created but the old one stays in published state and shows in the search results here in related list.

Thanks Raghav for your response. But the issue is, in incident's Related Search both the articles are visible. And users are raising concern over this. What should be done in this case. Also, state of old articles is not changing to Outdated.

OOB it should change to outdated, is there a customisation at your end.

Also the outdated one's should not be visible in search.
