Hi @RahulK232369575,
As you wrote no description, can you please elaborate on the title?
- "8 years of Non-IT experience"
- what field/industry are you referring to?
- it will be different for a person working 8 years in a bank and for a person who has been a pinter or a teacher, or a firefighter or a singer...
- some professions may have overlapping or similar skills, some completely different...
- "how to enter in IT?"
- what role/position and what product/service/process do you refer to,,
- IT is a very large industry with multiple roles,
- do you aim to be IT engineer, manager, fulfiller, company CEO, ...
it is impossible to give you any relevant advice or to discuss it if you didn't share details.
/* If my response wasn’t a total disaster ↙️ ⭐ drop a Kudos or Accept as Solution ✅ ↘️ Cheers! */

Hi @RahulK232369575 ,
Welcome to the IT community. There's definitely a broadband of different careers and paths in the IT field. What may help is sharing what first got you into ServiceNow, and what interests you like when dealing with ServiceNow?
I hope this helps a little, and you have a good day.

If you’ve got 8 years of non-IT experience and want to break into tech, don’t think you’re starting from scratch—you’re actually bringing a unique perspective that the industry needs, especially as companies look to diversify their teams. The key is to reframe your existing skills (like problem-solving, communication, project work, etc.) into IT language, and focus on one entry point—whether it’s help desk, ServiceNow, QA, cloud, or cybersecurity. Get a cert that aligns with your target role, join tech communities that support diverse backgrounds, and start building a presence on LinkedIn to document your journey. Volunteer for tech-related tasks in your current job if you can, and don’t be afraid to stand out—this is your pivot, and it’s totally doable.
the ServiceNow ecosystem is a solid place to start. You’re not starting from zero—you’re bringing valuable real-world skills that translate well, especially in roles like ServiceNow Admin, Business Analyst, or ITSM support. Focus on learning the platform (get your CSA cert), and start documenting what you learn by building apps or customizing your Personal Developer Instance. Translate your past experience—project coordination, customer support, operations—into ServiceNow language, and look for ways to pivot internally or volunteer for ServiceNow-related tasks. There’s a growing demand for diverse talent in this space, and if you can show how your background brings a fresh perspective, you’ll stand out. The key is to be visible, stay hands-on, and commit to learning the platform deeply.
