How to build a custom timeline view

Hi all, 

 

Our organization have some specific requirements for upcoming changes in a timeline view that unable to fulfill by OOTB.

 

Basically a one page upcoming 6/12 months timeline view with different critical service in row different that give a holistic view.

 

We are exploring to build custom timeline using  UI page with HTML, CSS and JavaScript.

 

May I seek your advice on below questions?

 

1. Is it a good approach to custom build using UI page? Any alternative or better approach 

2. Anyone would have experience to share on how to build? Or code piece sample.

Unfortunately the OOTB timeline visualization is unable to solve our use cases.
