Hi Everyone,

I'd like to take the opportunity to share part of the material that we used during a customer meeting, created by @Odemir Mata Jr from @Accenture, a McDonald's Big Mac #1 - combo, which provides a simplified and objective view of how and where ServiceNow can operate in our customers. find_real_file.png

I hope this can help everyone working in the telecom/tech world. Thank you, @Odemir Mata Jr and @Accenture, for this great insight.

Regards,

Paola Montanini

Thank you Paola and Odemir - this is a great catalog model that can be used to really help everyone to understand the Product-Service-Resource story.  The story could evolve :

- We could also refer to shared resources as well - for example the RFS:Hamburger - requires a grill and gas / the Fries requires a deepfryer with oil.

- each of the components have to be sourced from an inventory - (HAM/SAM) which can track inventory levels and trigger procurement at appropriate levels

- how about FSM for home delivery

Great diagram, foundational, and great training aid for those new to TMF SID and COM and SOM APIs. In the spirit of extending the basics, one could characterize the Bundled Product Offer (Big Mac Combo #1) - as "is sellable standalone" for a la carte eligible per Product. For those of us that just love the fries 🙂

Another relationship to extend from the Product Catalog would be using in the example that the Big Mac "Box" is a physical resource (PR) . Product "is realized as a physical resource".

For delivery of the Bundled Product Offering - products - one could have a relationship to "GoodsProdSpecItemChoice corresponding to "GoodsProdSpec" and "ShippingProductSpec" to identify whether the bundle is eligible for home delivery (Uber Eats), or store pickup (Mickey D's), related to the products "GoodsProdSpecChoiceItem. Lots of fun extending the Product Catalog...

Great diagram. Clarified a lot of my questions. but still, I have one question. TM 641 is for ordering the Service, now how to order if I need only one component? In line with this example above, I order a Sandwich and later i realize I need some extra cheese. What is the option to get that, or do I need to cancel and reorder with extra cheese?

Thank you very much for sharing this. The TMF APIs can be challenging to understand at first for an outsider, and this helped better understanding for both our consultants and the customer.

I like the analogy of combining services to form an offering to a menu at a fast food restaurant so much that I also use it outside of the Telco world. Everyone quickly understands that when it comes to fast food, they do not want to order a bun, sauce, meat and cheese and then give instructions on how to get it packaged as a complete cheeseburger.

I wish people viewed IT services like this as well. But we are getting there.

@Paulsylo ,

in this case Cheese must a independent product available to order.

This is absolutely great content and simplifies the Product-Service-Resource model concepts.

As @Kenneth Phillip  said, this is great foundational stuff and as @Tom Schnarr the story could evolve!!

In my opinion, most often, the concept of Service is mis-represented.

Service has to be looked at as the "Experience" side of the product. So if you take the food/ restaurant use case: I feel, the food itself is not the "Service" rather how its served is. So may be, table reservation, or serving in Air Conditioned Room etc becomes the service.

one more eg:

Product - Digital Satellite Television

when one buys this product, the service provider brings a small dish antenna and set top box and install and set up a basic plan on for you.

Now when you want to watch ESPN, that's when you go for a Service Order to add the channel to your subscription.
