can someone explain the difference service catalog request , catalog items and tasks?

I find it tough to understand the requests,items and tasks when I open under the open records.

A request can contain multiple catalog items and one catalog item can contain multiple tasks

when we   say multiple   task in catalog item what we imply !!! If you can give me a real time scenario that will be helpful

Suppose the Catalog Item is a New Employee Request. It contains some task like Emp ID creation, email Creation, Domain Creation etc. All this tasks should be done by different different groups.

Here comes the concept of Catalog Task. For each work (Emp ID creation, email Creation, Domain Creation etc) we can create different Task and assign them to different group.

Hope this should clear the Cat Item and Catalog Task concept.

Lets make a sort of real analogy. A request may be all the item which were requested during my order in my cart. For each requested item, i will then have a catalog item. In order to fulfill that catalog item, one or more tasks may be created for each fulfiller person or group that needs to satisfy a given task
