can someone explain the difference service catalog request , catalog items and tasks?

I find it tough to understand the requests,items and tasks when I open under the open records.

Lets make a sort of real analogy. A request may be all the item which were requested during my order in my cart. For each requested item, i will then have a catalog item. In order to fulfill that catalog item, one or more tasks may be created for each fulfiller person or group that needs to satisfy a given task

Request [My New Hire Needs]


-- Catalog Item [Laptop]


-- Catalog Item [Monitor]


-- Catalog Item [Account]


        --- Catalog Task [Create AD account]


        --- Catalog Task [Generate Password]


        --- Catalog Task [Set email and send a welcome email]

I got it now Berny . So now these catalog task will be assigned to the related approvers and each task which you have mentioned will be the subset of the requested items !!! Am I sensing right Berny.

Multiple requested items can be attached to a single request. Where as the catalog task can be associated to the requested item to fulfill the request.
